Brittany Pfleghaar, PsyD, LP (she/her)

Dr. Pfleghaar is a licensed psychologist who grew up in Minnesota. She is excited about returning to the Twin Cities after completing educational requirements in Philadelphia for graduate school.

APPROACH

Dr. Pfleghaar strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for her clients to feel heard and genuinely understood. This helps to tailor her approach to meet clients’ unique needs. She finds helping others reach their full potential and live in accordance with their values exceptionally rewarding.

CLINICAL INTERESTS

Dr. Pfleghaar has had well-established training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through her coursework and clinical training sites. She was trained at Aaron T. Beck’s Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine, under the supervision of Dr. Cory Newman, founding fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She has developed a knowledge of evidence-based treatments for a variety of mental health concerns commonly seen in outpatient therapy practices. While training at the Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Pfleghaar was also supervised by Dr. Russell Ramsay, renowned ADHD researcher and psychologist. Dr. Pfleghaar has pursued extensive training in treating obsessive compulsive disorder, panic, phobias, and other anxiety disorders through the use of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) techniques. She stays up to date with research through her membership with the International OCD Foundation and has presented in the topic area at a regional annual conference with the Minnesota Psychological Association.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Prior to doctoral training, Dr. Pfleghaar received her masters degree in Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania. She recently completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. As a result of receiving doctoral training within a medical school, Dr. Pfleghaar has developed expertise in the intersection of emotional, behavioral, and physical concerns. She has experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams providing behavioral health consultation services in primary care care offices where she helped clients learn how to make lasting healthy lifestyle changes. She has learned how to apply such knowledge and skills to the outpatient therapy setting, as she believes in treating the whole person.

PERSONAL

In Dr. Pfleghaar’s free time, she enjoys cooking, cycling, boxing, snowboarding, and reading.
