Kayla Pease, MA, LPCC, RPT™ (she/her)

Kayla is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™) who primarily works with children, adolescents, and their parents and/or caregivers.

APPROACH

Kayla utilizes a primarily person-centered approach, focusing heavily on meeting each individual where they are at with warmth and compassion. Her work as a therapist is rooted in both developmental and attachment perspectives, and Kayla aims to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment in order to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with each client. She strongly believes in the human capacity for growth and change through each individual’s unique strengths and perspectives.

CLINICAL INTERESTS

Kayla provides individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Her clinical interests include early childhood development, parent coaching, life transitions/adjustment, anxiety, neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, etc.), adverse childhood experiences, family of origin concerns, grief/loss, and trauma. Kayla has practice, certification, and/or training in DC:0-5™, Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT) and Circle of Security Parenting™.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Kayla has education, training, and clinical experience providing therapy in a variety of settings including community mental health organizations, school-based, home-based, and outpatient mental health facilities since 2018. She completed her Master’s degree in Counseling & Psychology at the University of South Dakota, completed additional coursework at South Dakota State University for courses required for her Registered Play Therapy™ (RPT™) specialization, and completed her internship at a community and school-based mental health organization in Sioux Falls, SD.

PERSONAL

Kayla has been a creative soul since childhood and greatly enjoys drawing, writing, and playing violin whenever she has the opportunity. Additionally, she has a deep love of videogames, with The Legend of Zelda being her favorite series.
