Becky Smith, MA, LPCC (she/her)

Becky is a licensed professional clinical counselor who offers therapy for individuals and couples as well as parents of young children. She strives to create a therapeutic space that is engaging, dynamic and nurturing to help her clients cope more effectively with daily stressors, work through internal conflicts and develop more satisfying relationships. She seeks to build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship through humility, mindfulness, empathy, validation and acceptance, and she hopes to foster insight and change by offering curiosity, collaboration, education and skills.

APPROACH

Becky recognizes the complexity of the human experience. She believes that a number of factors can impact a state of harmony and balance, thus she considers how the intersectionality of such components may be contributing to her client's struggles. In therapy, she aims to explore her client's mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual, social, creative and intellectual needs in order to facilitate growth and change. Although Becky adopts a whole person, multidisciplinary and root cause perspective on healing, she empowers personal choice and honors her client's innate wisdom as she recognizes that every person's healing journey is uniquely their own.

CLINICAL INTERESTS

Becky has experience working with a number of issues and presenting concerns such as stress, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, panic, ADHD, grief and loss, parenting, relational distress, self-esteem, life transitions, career, and chronic illness. She is trained in Micro Current Neurofeedback (MCN), and she takes special interest in utilizing this tool in combination with talk therapy to maximize treatment outcomes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Becky has over 10 years of experience providing clinical and non-clinical support for diverse populations in a number of settings including in-home, higher education, and outpatient medical clinics. She pursued her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Human Relations at St. Cloud State University, and she received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. Becky has been licensed as a professional counselor since 2019 and became a Certified Micro Current Neurofeedback provider in 2021.

PERSONAL

Outside of work, Becky is busy being a parent to her young children (most of the time) but prioritizes moments of solitude to foster strength, resiliency, and creativity. She also loves to be adventurous, travel, read, be in nature, listen to music, laugh and connect with others.
